≪In the best tradition of travel cinema there is an approach to an “other” culture, conducted with a documentary method that is given as listening to and narrating a fertile plurality of points of view on the event, focusing significantly on a strongly marginalized perspective.≫

TOO BIG DRAWING di /by Henadzi Buto (Belarus)
Miglior Corto On the Road / Best Short Film On the Road

Motivazione del Premio / Reasons for the prize
≪A thought that becomes a pencil, and then leaps from the visual field to the wider sensory field.
A journey beyond the confines of paper pushes us out of our rooms, houses, streets, neighborhoods, cities and then beyond human society, on natural and uncontaminated paths. The sign leaves the sheet and sets off, without limits, without borders, free to cross bridges and seasons, travels in the water or on the sand, enters the woods, runs between the branches of trees and under the snow, in a line uninterrupted that like the cycle of nature finally brings us back to the starting point, enriched with an almost tactile perception of ourselves and of the space we occupy.≫

HOMO MOBILIS di /by Nikola Miloradovic (Canada)
Menzione Presidente della Giuria / Jury President Special Mention

Motivazione della Menzione / Reasons for the Mention
≪Life seen through the windows of a car that transports and merges with a new human species, Homo Mobilis, in a world adapted to the new needs dictated by the pandemic emergency. Essential sound and image, sharp editing, dry realism lead to an icy dimension of separateness, in which everything – every relationship, every function – takes place without direct human contact. From shopping to Covid tests, from car cleaning to cultural enjoyment: a new everyday life that we pass through protected by a mobile metal shell, an indication of a fragility that makes us all equal and equally impotent.≫

THE VAN di / by Erenik Beqiri (France)

Motivazione della Menzione / Reasons for the Mention
≪The inability to move is an inhuman and unbearable condition like the merciless blows that disfigure the face of the protagonist. The redemption of one’s freedom of movement involves the violent confrontation between son and father, two generations with different perceptions of reality. The journey here is a closed circle, a windowless cage, an ‘on the road’ torture chamber. But one can only take this journey in order not to remain suspended between staying and leaving. The film seems to ask whether this is the price to pay to stop being children, to free life from death. An unanswered dilemma, and in which everything is double and contradictorily connects violence / freedom, inside / outside, father / son, staying / going, death / life.≫
