“Le fotografie sono meno importanti della vita che si sta vivendo”, diceva Mapplethorpe. Arriva in Italia e a Roma al Detour, grazie a Wanted Cinema Distribuzione, il documentario dedicato a Robert Mapplethorpe, il grande fotografo americano morto di Aids nel 1989. E il film di Baily e Barbato ha il merito di far arrivare allo spettatore questo amore per la vita e questa idea di fotografia che ha senso di esistere solo nel momento in cui cattura la vita che pulsa, qualunque sia la sua forma. “Look at the pictures” è un film molto fotografico, in cui le foto sono protagoniste e anche le inquadrature delle interviste sono concepite come set fotografici, in cui luce e composizione sono tutto.
