ENDLESS POETRY by Alejandro Jodorowsky

The main character of the story is Padre Innocenzo, a 39 year-old Cistercian monk who observes an austere lifestyle and is a ceramist of the abbey where he lives. Besides having a good voice and working with the confreres, he is sometimes requested by other churches to sing sacred music in Latin. The transfer of the parish priest of the village involves new commitments for the monk (music celebrations, blessing of houses, confessions of the faithful, church maintenance), which divert him from his rarefied loneliness, to his great disappointment.

THE STRANGER IN THE HOUSE [I documentari di INTERNAZIONALE]

Once a pop star celebrity, winner of the biggest local reality show, Big Brother Brazil, now he puts his fame at risk by confronting the religious majority, and becomes an activist under life threats, target of online hate, the Brazilian Harvey Milk living in one of the deadliest countries for homosexuals, while the rest of the world sees an increase in legislative tolerance.

IGGY POP & MICHEL HOUELLEBECQ: “TO STAY ALIVE: A METHOD” *Final Screening*

From his sundrenched garden in Miami, Iggy Pop reads from Michel Houellebecq’s “To Stay Alive.” In 1991, Houellebecq wrote this thought-provoking essay on insanity, survival and art, describing it as “a weak but clear signal to those on the point of giving up.” Houellebecq urges poets who are weary of life to “return to the origin; that is, to suffering.” A poet should put his finger on society’s wounds and press down hard, he says.

AN INSIGNIFICANT MAN [doc NTERNAZIONALE]

A political documentary that traces the birth and journey of a new and dynamic party, An Insignificant Man is 400 hours of footage that was edited to weave a 90-minute narrative in the form of a feature film. If you have not followed the political developments that led to the emergence of the Aam Admi Party, An Insignificant Man will be an educating journey. From the early days of the anti-corruption movement, started by Anna Hazare and spearhead by Arvind Kejriwal, to the formation of the AAP and its eventual victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the documentary shows it all.
The beauty of the documentary lies in the cohesive narrative that the filmmakers have come up with and there are no voice-overs or interviews to disrupt the flow of the story. The footage has been woven together to form a proper story and it helps in making the film gripping.

BOILING POINT [doc INTERNAZIONALE]

Financial inequality, lack of vision, fear and anger especially towards asylum seekers, has been growing rapidly in Europe, also in Finland. People are increasingly afraid that their home environment is becoming unrecognizable and undesirable. Populist demagogues have risen to harness these fears and to raise people against each other.
In the middle of all this turmoil are two men, Oula (46) and Tapio (71). Although they disagree on almost everything, they have decided to continue their weekly discussions in a public sauna in Helsinki. They continue because they respect each other, and because they understand that when conversation ends, violence begins.
“Boiling Point” is an award-winning documentary film by director and writer Elina Hirvonen. The film paints a shocking image of contemporary Europe, but also looks for a common ground between strongly opinionated groups of people.
