Sea Tentative Agreement

The SPA agreement includes an average wage plan increase of about 12.5 per cent in 2019-20, a 2 per cent increase in 2020-21 and inflation adjustments in 2021-22. Seattle Public Schools and Seattle Education Association agreed on Friday, August 28 on the 2020/21 school year. Together, we have developed a plan to prioritize academic success and student well-being in these uncertain times. Since May, a joint team of some 45 representatives from Seattle Public Schools (SPS) and the Seattle Education Association (SEA) has been negotiating a new collective agreement. The whole team worked hard to ensure that the negotiation process proceeded smoothly and that the negotiating teams reached an agreement before the start of the school year. The region is very fond of our paragliders. We have been working hard since June and we are negotiating in good faith with the representatives of the para-federations, with the desire to reach a fair solution within the limits of our financial resources. Unfortunately, we have not yet agreed ourselves with the help of a state mediator. The county is required to negotiate until we reach an agreement. SBLSD and SPA have tentatively agreed on a three-year contract. SPA members will vote on the agreement on Monday. October 27, school board meeting cancelled.

No school Oct 28. 23.10.19The regular scheduled negotiations between the Sumner-Bonney Lake District (SBLSD) and the Sumner Paraeducators Association (SPA) ended on 22 October without interim agreement. In the interest of continuing negotiations, SBLSD sought the assistance of a national mediator. The Ombudsman met with both groups on 23 October. Mediation will continue on October 24. The District continues to negotiate in good faith in the hope of a quick agreement to avoid student learning disabilities. If no agreement is reached before 24 October, the members of the SPA have voted to authorize a strike for 25 October. In the event of a strike, SBLSD teachers voted not to exceed pickets.

With the help of a state mediator, the Lake Sumner-Bonney District (SBLSD) and the Sumner Paraeducator Association (SPA) continued negotiations on Saturday, October 26. No agreement has been reached at this stage. We continue to negotiate until the evening.
