Non senza un certo orgoglio, possiamo finalmente annunciarvi la selezione ufficiale delle sezioni competitive di ON THE ROAD FILM FESTIVAL VII, Festival internazionale di cinema indipendente di viaggio, errante e di frontiera, interamente auto-prodotto senza alcun contributo pubblico. Le proiezioni avranno luogo al Cinema Detour di Roma nel corso di due weekend, dal 14 al 23 febbraio. La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà al Cine Detour la sera del 23 febbraio. Con anteprime e lavori inediti ispirati a viaggi, attraversamenti urbani e di terre selvagge, geografie erranti, itinerari di confine, digressioni da percorsi prestabiliti e sconfinamenti, OTRFF traccia un percorso inedito di cinema internazionale indie e on the road.
We are delighted to announce the official selection for the ON THE ROAD FILM FESTIVAL 7th Edition. Truly independent festival without any public funding. Both feature films and shorts/medium length films in competition will be screened at Detour Arthouse Cinema within a period of two consecutive weekends, from 14 to 16 and from 21 to 23, February 2020. The Award Ceremony will be held on the night of February the 23rd.
Based at the legendary DETOUR Arthouse Cinema, in the heart of Rome since 1997, ON THE ROAD FILM FESTIVAL is devoted to contemporary independent cinema – fiction, documentary and experimental – presenting travelogues, urban and waste-land wanderings, real or imaginary topographies, unexpected detours, psycho-geographical drifts, migration and nomadism.

Angie does not want her grandfather, a former cyclist suffering from dementia, to spend the last days of his life in a nursing home. So, he decides to lock himself in his room, and to make a final act of love towards him and another trip together…

A weird Palermo, gloomy as never before. A dark-haired girl drives all night for seemingly no reason. Is she looking for something or someone? Does she need to finish any job? Or, maybe, is it only a feeling of endless loneliness that makes her stop at pubs and meet men? Truth is elusive and night life can lose itself in the coils of a disturbing dream.

Les Enfants du Rivage

Un pomeriggio, in un campo abbandonato, Hugo di 8 anni, gioca alla guerra. All’improvviso un’intrusa invade il suo territorio: Aiché, anche lei di 8 anni. Lui è un solitario, lei una ribelle. Il gioco si interrompe bruscamente quando sono costretti ad assistere all’espulsione della madre di Aiché. Dovranno trovare soluzioni adeguate, alla loro altezza di bambini.
One afternoon, in an abandoned field, 8-year-old Hugo plays war. Suddenly an intruder invades his territory: Aiché, also 8 years old. He is a loner, she is a rebel. The game stops abruptly when they are forced to witness the expulsion of Aiché’s mother. They will have to find adequate solutions, at their height as children.

An avveniristic architecture, made by fantastic animals of galactic prehistory moving within an industrial-fantasy atmosphere. Bilbao, a city with a strong identity, a mix of old values and love for progress. But, who really are its people? Where do hey come from?

The Evil Eye [Deochiul]

Una giornalista e un cameraman stanno visitando il campo di una comunità rom in protesta a Bucarest a seguito dello sfratto. Durante l’intervista, i manifestanti iniziano a mettere in discussione la vera motivazione del team giornalistico rivendicando il diritto a raccontare la loro versione della storia.
A reporter and a camera operator are visiting the camp of a protesting Roma community in Bucharest that recently got evicted. During the interview, the protesters start questioning the real motivation of the reporter team and claim their right to tell their version of the story.
